WATERLOO, Ont. (February 14, 2010) - The No. 8 ranked Queen's Gaels finished off their regular season this weekend with a convincing 4-1 victory over the Waterloo Warriors.

The Gales used four different scorers leading them to victory and was their final tune up as they await the winner of the OUA Quarter-final series which begin later this week.

Becky Conroy of Pembroke, Ont., opened the scoring just 2:12 into the first period with her team leading 17th goal of the season. The McHaffie sisters of Guelph, Ont., then netted consecutive goals. Brittany scored her seventh of the season with four minutes left in the first period and Morgan scored her 16th of the season just 3:33 into the second. Kristin Smith of Toronto, then added some insurance with her 12th of the season with 35 seconds left in the second.

Karissa Savage of Calgary got the start for the Gaels and was spectacular in goal stopping 22 of the 23 shots she faced. Unfortunately, her shutout bid was denied when Emma McMillan of Hastings, Ont., scored with just over three minutes remaining in the third period. Savage's win was her sixth of the season, moving her record to 6-0-1.

Elizabeth Kench of Gananoque, Ont., did her part Sunday dishing out three assists helping the Gaels to victory. She finishes the season with the most assists in the country (26) and wins the OUA scoring title with 38 points. Teammate Conroy finishes second in OUA scoring with 34 points.

With the win, the Gaels completed their regular season with a record of 19-5-3 giving them a total of 41 points on the season. After already clinching second place in the OUA standings, giving them a bye through the first round, the Gaels will now wait and see who they will play in the OUA Semifinals. The bye has guaranteed them home ice advantage in their first series which will be a best of three. The first game will be played on home ice as well as the third if necessary.
