Gaels edge Warriors by single point in 63-62 win

KINGSTON, Ont. (November 6, 2010) – Tim Boyle of Belleville, Ont., made a single free-throw with just four seconds left to hand the Queen's Gaels a 63-62 win against the Waterloo Warriors in men's basketball on Saturday night.

Queen's Dan Bannister of Newmarket, Ont., recorded 20 points and five rebounds to lead the Gaels in the win.

Chris Barrett of Vancouver, B.C., had 15 points, five steals, and four assists to help the Gaels both offensively and defensively. Brandon Baronaitis of Toronto led the Gaels with seven rebounds.

Kitchener's Cam McIntyre led the Warriors in scoring dropping a game high 23 points in the loss.

The game was filled with multiple swings which saw the Gaels fall behind by 14 points heading into halftime. Waterloo used a 27 point second quarter to build the 45-31 lead. In the third, Queen's dominated the Warriors both offensively and defensively. Waterloo would only muster seven points in the third, while Queen's edged out in front by posting 22 points in the quarter.

The win brings the Gaels early regular season record to 1-1 and also marks Duncan Cowan's first CIS victory as a Head Coach..

The Gaels' next game is on Friday November 12 against the Guelph Gryphons in Guelph.
