| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 5, 2010) – The Gaels were unable to come back from an early deficit as they lost to the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 86-59 in their regular season home opener in Kingston Friday night.

Chris Barrett of Vancouver, B.C., led the Gaels with 13 points.

Two other Gaels had double digits in the loss; Timothy Boyle of Belleville, Ont., and Dan Bannister of Newmarket, Ont., had 12 and 11 points respectively. Bernard Burgesson of Port Hawkesbury, N.S., led
the Gaels in rebounds with seven.

The Golden Hawks came out hard, taking an early 12-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game. Boyle put the Gaels on the scoreboard, and would have 10 first quarter points to keep the Gaels in the game
with a score of 29-18 at the end of the first quarter.

Once Laurier had the lead they didn't turn back. Despite scoring contributions from 11 different Queen's players, the Golden Hawks led by as much as 35 points in the second half, and the final score wound up as 86-59 for the Hawks.

Kale Harrison of Stratford, Ont., and Maxwell Allin of Chatham, Ont., led Laurier in scoring with 18 points each.

The Gaels next game is in Kingston tomorrow night at 8:00 pm against the Waterloo Warriors.
