Gaels fall 69-56 to Western

KINGSTON, Ont., (November 27, 2010) – The Western Mustangs used a 7-0 run in the third quarter lifting them to a 69-56 win over the Queen's Gaels in OUA men's basketball on Saturday.

The loss puts the Gaels' losing streak at six games and drops their record to 1-7 with one game remaining before the holiday break. The Mustangs improve to 5-3.

Andrew Wedemire of Sarnia, Ont., led the Mustangs posting a double-double pouring in 25 points capturing 11 rebounds in the victory. Wedemire was 12 for 20 from the floor in 33 minutes. Quinn Henderson of Dundas, Ont., and Adam Jespersen of London, Ont., recorded 12 and 10 points respectively.

Dan Bannister of Newmarket, Ont., was Queen's only scorer to break double digits registering 18 points.

Queen's registered 30 points on three pointers with Bannister and Chris Barrett of Vancouver, BC recording three each. Twenty-one of 29 Queen's points in the first half were on three pointers alone. However, in the second half, the Gaels struggled from outside the arc scoring only nine points on three pointers.

Queen's will tangle with the winless Royal Military College Paladins on Thursday, December 2 in SAM Gym #3 on campus at RMC.
