HAMILTON (November 21, 2010) - Despite a 21 point game from
Bryan Fautley of Oakville, Ont., the Queen's Gaels could not find a way to top the McMaster Marauders as they lost 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 25-15, 23-25, 15-12).
Fautley led the Gaels offence with 18 kills and a service ace, which put him ahead of the Gaels next leading scorers. Toronto natives Michael Amorose and
Matthew Taylor were next with 13 and 12 points respectively while Ottawa's
Anthony Pitfield was the only other Gael in double digit scoring with 10.
McMaster rebounded to take the lead in this match by winning two consecutive sets after dropping a closely contested first set. They couldn't seal the game in the fourth set as the Gaels took the frame by two points but Queen's could not keep it up as they dropped the final set by three points.
The loss puts the Gaels at 7-1 this season. They will look to regain their winning form next Saturday November 27 as they take on the first place Western Mustangs at home in the ARC Main Gym. Start time is set for 1:00 pm.
