WATERLOO, Ont. (November 20, 2010) - The Queen's Gaels scored first but couldn't muster any more offence as they fell to the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks by a 2-1 score.
Brock Ouellet of Lindsay, Ont. scored a power-play goal for the Gaels three minutes into the game to give Queen's a 1-0 lead. However, the lead wouldn't hold up as Kain Allicock tied the game up for Laurier with a power-play goal of his own just before the third period expired.
After a tightly contested second period where the two teams combined for 20 shots, Laurier broke the tie fifteen minutes into the third period on an even strength goal from Zack Shepley which would remain the difference at the end of the game.
Ouellet's goal was assisted by
Jordan Mirwaldt of Winnipeg and
Alexi Pianosi of Halifax.
Steele De Fazio of Georgetown, Ont. got the start in goal for the Gaels and stopped 29 of 31 shots, before being pulled with a minute and twenty seconds left in the third period for the extra attacker.
The Gaels will return to action next Friday as they take on the Western Mustangs at the Kingston Memorial Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm.
