THUNDER BAY, Ont. (November 20, 2010) - Newmarket, Ontario's
Dan Bannister continued his great season with a 15 point, 6 rebound performance but it wasn't enough to lead the Queen's Gaels past the Lakehead Thunderwolves as they lost by a 78-47 score.
Bannister led the Gaels in both scoring and rebounding on the evening while shooting 39% from the floor in 31 minutes of action. He was second in playing time to only
Chris Barrett of Vancouver, who was on the court for 33 minutes.
The Gaels couldn't overcome a total team effort from Lakehead though, as the Thunderwolves had four players in double digit scoring. Ryan Thomson of Oakville, Ont., was Lakehead's leading scorer with 14 points. The Thunderwolves were on point shooting the ball as well, as they hit 44% of their shots from the floor.
Timothy Boyle of Belleville, Ont., was the only other Gael in double digits scoring with 11 points on a night the Gaels only managed to shoot 28% from the floor.
Brandon Baronaitis of Toronto, tied Bannister for the rebounding lead with 5.
The Gaels will be looking to get back on track Friday as they return home to the ARC to take on the Windsor Lancers. Tip-off is set for 8:00 pm.
