McHaffie’s two goals helps Gaels snap losing streak

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (November 19, 2010) – Morgan McHaffie of Guelph, Ont., scored a pair of second period goals to lift the Queen's Gaels to a 4-2 win over the Waterloo Warriors Friday night at the Kingston Memorial Centre.

The victory snaps the Gaels five game winless slide and improves their record to 5-5-3 on the year. The Warriors drop to 2-9-1.

Queen's opened the scoring in the first period when Elizabeth Kench of Gananoque, Ont., notched her second goal of the season.

McHaffie would go to work midway through the second, scoring her two goals within two minutes of each other to give the Gaels a three goal cushion.

Waterloo would cut the lead to two late in the second period thank to a goal from Jessica Tracey of Woodslee, Ont., but Brittany McHaffie of Guelph, Ont., would score her first of the year to put the game out of reach.

The Warriors added a late goal from Emma McMillan of Hastings, Ont.

Karissa Savage of Calgary, picked up the win for Queen's as she stopped 14 shots. Martina Michaud of Etobicoke, Ont., suffered the loss as she made 21 saves through two periods of action. She was relieved by Emma Meanor of Morell, P.E.I., to begin the third.

Queen's will be back in action tomorrow night when they host the No. 2 Laurier Golden Hawks at the Kingston Memorial Centre on Ice Wolves night. Members of the Kingston Ice Wolves will be in attendance to celebrate the recently-announced partnership between the Queen's and the Ice Wolves. Puck drop is set for 8:30 pm.
