ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (November 13, 2010) –
Dan Bannister of Newmarket, Ont. scored 22 points, but it wasn't enough to bring the Gaels to a win. Brock prevailed 81-72 after using a 30-point second quarter to build a lead.
Queen's found themselves down by 21 at the half, but outscored Brock by 14 in the fourth trying to bring the game back within reach. Bannister led both teams in points and rebounds, grabbing nine boards on the night.
Chris Barrett of Vancouver had 10 points for the Gaels, while
Timothy Boyle of Belleville, Ont. had 11 points and a game high five steals.
Andrew Kraus of Markham, Ont. led the Badgers with 20 points in the victory, while Mark Gibson of Bradford, Ont. had 17 points. Brock shot 43% from the field on the night, and made 22 of 26 free throws. Those proved to be the difference for the Badgers.
The Gaels continue a string of road games with visits to McMaster on November 19th and Lakehead on November 20th. Their next home game is November 26th against the (currently) ranked No.9 Windsor Lancers.
NOTES: Bannister had his most productive weekend in a Gaels uniform posting 48 points over the two games; he scored 26 a day earlier in a 78-71 loss to Guelph.
