KINGSTON, Ont. (November 13, 2010) –
Bryan Fautley of Oakville, Ont., recorded 11 kills helping the Queen's Gaels extend their winning streak to six games with a straight set victory over the Ryerson Rams in OUA men's volleyball on Saturday.
Queen's needed only one hour and 14 minutes to dispose of the Rams with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-17
Four Gaels including Fautley recorded double digits in points. Fautley and
Joren Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont. had 11 points each while
Anthony Pitfield of Ottawa and
Michael Amoroso of Toronto had 10 apiece. Zeeman had the second highest number of kills for the Gaels with eight.
Fautley also had five digs in the win and was named the player of the game for Queen's.
Setter
Jackson Dakin of Courtenay, B.C. tallied a game high 29 assists.
Ryerson's top scorer was Chris McLaughlin who registered nine points on nine kills. He also had eight digs in the loss. Setter Aleksa Miladinovic of Toronto had 24 assists for Ryerson in the loss.
With the win the Gaels maintain their tie atop the OUA standings with the Western Mustangs. Both teams are 6-0 with 12 points. Guelph, Laurier and McMaster are tied for third with eight points each.
The Gaels will head to Southern Ontario next weekend for games against Guelph and McMaster. Queen's will battle Guelph on Saturday, (Nov. 20) at 8:00pm before heading to Hamilton to challenge McMaster on Sunday (Nov. 21) at 2:00pm.
NOTES: Queen's haven't lost a set in two straight games and their last set loss was the opening set against Wilfrid Laurier back on Nov. 6... That game saw the Gaels drop their opening set before rattling off three straight wins to earn a 3-1 victory.
