Gaels offence shut down by Ottawa for a second time this season
OTTAWA (October 6, 2010) - The No. 8 Ottawa Gee Gees upset the No. 3 ranked Queen's Gaels 1-0 in Ontario University Athletics (OUA) women's soccer action on Wednesday evening in Ottawa.

Krista Draycott of Ottawa scored the game's only goal in the 60th minute to lift the Gee Gee's past the Gaels. The Gee Gees' Melissa Pesant of Gatineau, Que., neutrilized the Gaels offence for the shutout.

Pesant was also able to keep the OUA's top two leading scores at bay. Jacqueline Tessier of Peterborough, Ont., and Kelli Chamberlain of North Bay, Ont., sit 1-2 in goals scored with Tessier having scored 15 goals and Chamberlin tallying seven in 12 games.

The loss drops the Gaels record to 10-2-0 with their only blemishes coming against the Ottawa Gee Gees. Queen's lost 1-0 to Ottawa on September 15 at Richardson Stadium in their only other match-up thus far. The loss breaks a six-game winning streak by the Gaels.

Queen's still holds on to top spot in the OUA East Division with 30 points while Ottawa occupies second place with 23 points. Queen's also holds top position in the OUA five points ahead of Laurier. .

The Gaels will break for the Thanksgiving holiday and return to action at home against the Ryerson Rams on October 16. Kick off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
