Gaels fall 2-1 to Ravens in overtime

OTTAWA (October 22, 2010) – The Queen's Gaels men's hockey team were defeated 2-1 in overtime by the Carleton Ravens on Friday evening in Ottawa.

The extra frame was the fourth time this season the Gaels have played in overtime over five games. The Gaels have won three of those games including two in overtime and one in a shootout.

Carleton Raven's forward Andrew Shelf of Peterborough, Ont., scored the game winner at 3:43 of the overtime period.

Self also got the second assist on Carleton's first goal which came 27 seconds in the second period. On that goal Joey Manley of Ottawa converted a pass from Tyler Taylor of Kitchener, Ont. to take the early 1-0 lead.

Queen's Scott Kenway of Calgary scored his third of the season at 13:02 of the third period to tie the score at one apiece. Brendan Bureau of Amherstview, Ont., and Brock Ouellet of Lindsay, Ont. were credited with the assists.

Steele De Fazio (3-2) of Georgetown, Ont., made faced 35 shots making 33 saves in 63 minutes of play for Queen's.. Carleton's Matthew Dopud of Pointe Claire, Que., earned his first win of the season turning aside 20 shots.

The Gaels are tied for fourth place in the OUA East with the Ottawa Gee Gees at seven points with a 3-1-1 record.

Queen's will face long-time nemesis McGill tomorrow evening in Montreal. McGill holds top position in the OUA East with a perfect 5-0-0 record. Puck drops at 7:00pm at the McConnell Arena on campus at McGill.
