KINGSTON, Ont. (October 20, 2010) - The Queen's Gaels jumped out to a seven point lead 16 minutes into the game and didn't look back as they topped the Royal Military College Paladins 29-5 in a rare Wednesday afternoon rugby matchup.
Queen's Brandon McGovern of Ottawa, scored the first try which was followed up by a convert by Dan Moor of Toronto. Moor would also add the next try and convert to finish with nine points in the game. He currently leads the OUA in scoring with 84 points.
Stephen Saunders of Oakville, Ont., scored in the 73rd minute giving Queen's a19 point lead.
Mike Wong of Barrie, Ont., followed the Saunders try with one of his own eight minutes later to put the Gaels up 24-0.
Graham Turner (Oakville, Ont.) would round out the Gaels' scoring in the 95th minute.
Clarke O'Reilly of Kitchener, Ont., scored the only points for RMC with a try in the 90th minute.
The win pushes the Gaels season record to 5-2 and they sit just one point behind Brock for third place in the OUA. The Badgers have 26 points while Queen's holds fourth place with 25.
Queen's will have an opportunity to overtake Brock for third place in the final regular season game when they face the Badgers at Kingston FIeld. Start time is set for 2:00pm and will follow the women's OUA Semi-final match between Queen's and Waterloo at 12:00pm
