KINGSTON, Ont. (January 20, 2010) – The RMC Paladins scored two powerplay goals on Wednesday night as they knocked off the Queen's Gaels by a score of 4-1.
All in all, the Gaels took 48 minutes worth of penalties in the game, giving the Paladins seven powerplay opportunities.
Jeff Oke opened the scoring for RMC midway through the first period when he converted on the Paladins first powerplay opportunity of the night. Richard Lim would extend the lead in the second with another powerplay goal past
Steele De Fazio of Georgetown, Ont., to put the Paladins in front 2-0.
Before the second period was out, Mitchell Smith increased the Paladins lead to three with his third goal of the season.
David Chubb of St. George's, Nfld., gave the Gaels some life with his fifth of the season just two minutes into the final frame but Lim would score just before the 10 minute mark to seal the victory for the Paladins.
Andrew Flemming picked up the win for RMC turning aside 36 shots in the game. De Fazio took the loss after stopping 28 shots.
The loss drops Queen's to 11-10-1 on the season while the Paladins improve to 5-12-3.
Next up for the Gaels is a trip to North Bay to take on the Nipissing Lakers. Queen's is 2-0 against the Lakers this season and will look to sweep the season series on Saturday night.
