Gaels shock No. 3 Gee Gees in Ottawa

| By:
OTTAWA, Ont. (September 30, 2009) – The Queen's Women's soccer team pulled off a major upset on Wednesday night as they defeated they No. 3 ranked Ottawa Gee Gees 1-0 on their home turf.

In a closely contested contest, it was the Gaels who would score the game's only goal in the 12th minute when Kelli Chamberlain of North Bay, Ont. beat Ottawa keeper Melissa Pesant.

From there, the Gaels defence would hold the top team in the OUA in check and they walked away with their sixth win of the season.

Queen's keeper Chantel Marson of London, Ont. made three saves in the shutout victory.

The win moves Queen's to 6-1-1 on the season while the Gee Gees drop to 6-1-2.

The Gaels will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Peterborough to take on the Trent Excalibur. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
