Slide continues for Queen’s

Ryan Hairsine scores 18 in loss against York
Toronto (February 7, 2009) – Queen's men's basketball dropped its eighth game in a row, losing to the York Lions 82-69 on Saturday.

York went on a 27-16 run in the second quarter which proved to be the difference in the game. The Lions managed three quarters of 20 points or more while the Gaels were able to hold York to 12 points in the third. Queen's only scored 20 points in the first and then averaged 16 in each of the final three quarters.

Ryan Hairsine of St. Marys, Ont., put up 18 points in today's game and with his 25 point performance in yesterday's loss he had a 43 point weekend. Rob Shaw of Toronto and Dan Bannister of Newmarket, Ont., each tallied 14 points in the Gaels' loss.

David Tyndale of Mississauga, Ont., was the game's top scorer, posting 26 points in York's win. Tut Ruach of Mississauga, Ont., finished with 19 points.

Queen's (6-13) is tied with York (6-13) for fifth place in the OUA East Division and has two games remaining in the 2008-09 regular season. The Gaels will play Ottawa and Carleton in the nation's capital next Friday and Saturday.
