OTTAWA, (December 5, 2009) – The Gaels responded to an early deficit with three goals in the final two periods to post a 3-1 win against the University of Ottawa Gee Gees on Saturday in Ottawa.
The Gee-Gees got on the board first with a powerplay goal on Gaels' netminder
Mackenzie Ball (Shannonville, Ont.) at 14:09 into the first period. That was Ball's only gaffe, finishing the game with 25 saves and two penalty minutes.
The second period saw the Gaels'
Joey Derochie (Sudbury, Ont.) notch his 13th goal of the season.
Payton Liske (Kingston, Ont.) assisted on the goal, one of his two helpers in the game.
Queen's secured the victory with a pair of third period goals from
Brock Ouellet (Lindsay, Ont.) and
Jeffrey Johnstone (Etobicoke, Ont.).
The Gaels head into the holiday break with an 8-7-1 record and contend against cross town rival Royal Military College on January 6th to open the second half. The puck drops at 7:30pm at Kingston Memorial Centre.
