KINGSTON, ONT. (November 6, 2009) – The Gaels got solid production from their starters, but couldn't grind out a second win on the season, falling 66-54 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday night.
Three Gaels starters scored in double figures, led by
Brittany Moore (Hannon, Ont.) with 18 points in 36 minutes, and
Erin Skippon (Kelowna, B.C.) 10 points and nine rebounds.
Katie Guthrie (Orillia, Ont.) also had 13 points for the Gaels.
Down by only three points after the half, the Gaels were outscored 21-15 in a sloppy third quarter. Lakehead continued to put pressure on the Gaels offense, holding them to only 26% shooting in the second half.
Lakehead was led by Tasia McKenna with 18 points, and Lindsay Druery with 12 points and 13 boards. Emily Ross also had 13 points and three steals off the bench.
The Gaels (1-1) continue their schedule on Saturday November 7 against the McMaster Marauders at 6:00 pm in Bartlett Gym.
