KINGSTON Ont. (November 20, 2009) –
Joren Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont., had 14 kills in the Gaels sweep of the UofT Varsity Blues in Kingston Friday Evening.
The Gaels came out in full force from the opening set. Zeeman and #Michael Amoroso3 of Toronto, Ont., both had 4 kills in the first set alone, helping the Gaels win the set 25-22.
The second set saw the Gaels dominate the Blues on every front, taking an early 13-1 lead. Zeeman and
Will Sidgwick of Toronto, Ont., had seven and six consecutive serves respectively to open up the set.
Bryan Fautley of Oakville, Ont., was the biggest difference in the second set, however, with 6 kills in the second set with little response from UofT. The Gaels won the second set 25-14.
The final set saw the Gaels coast to victory with another strong showing by Zeeman.
Zeeman led the team with 14 kills, but Fautley also had a game total of 11, while Amoroso contributed six. Queen's setter
Daniel Rosenbaum of Hamilton, Ont., had 38 assists on the evening and was a clear advantage in defeating the Varsity Blues.
The Gaels win improves their impressive season to a record of 7-2. The Gaels next game is tomorrow evening against the Ryerson Rams in Bartlett Gymnasium.
