WINDSOR, Ont. (November 20, 2009) – Point guard
Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont., had 20 points in a 74-71 loss to the Windsor Lancers on Friday night in OUA women's basketball action.
Moore was the game's high scorer shooting 7 for 16 from the floor and was 5 for 10 from behind the three point line.
Erin Skippon of Kelowna, B.C., coming off a season high 22 point performance last weekend, contributed 17 points in the loss.
Jill Wheat of Marwayne, Alta., was Queen's top rebounder with nine.
Jessica Clemencon of St. Rambert, Que., was Windsor's top scorer posting 16 points with seven rebounds. Shavaun Reaney of Sherwood Park, Alta., contributed 15 points to help the Lancers tally their fourth win of the season.
The Gaels jumped out to 19-15 first quarter lead as they surprised Windsor with some strong interior play and outside shooting. The Lancers responded in the second quarter with a 20-8 run of their own to take a 35-27 haltime lead.
Queen's cut the lead to six in the third quarter before another run in the fourth quarter tied the game up. Down the stretch, the Lancers knocked down some timely shots and important free throws as they hung on for the 74-71 victory.
With the loss, Queen's evens its record to 3-3 on the season while Windsor improves to a perfect 5-0. Tomorrow, Queen's travels to Western to battle the Mustangs with tip off set for 1:00pm.
