Western nips Gaels 3-1 in London

LONDON, Ont. (November 14, 2009) – Queen's Joreen Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont., recorded a game high 19 points in a 3-1 defeat to the Western Mustangs on Saturday in OUA men's volleyball play.

The loss hands Queen's its second loss of the season with their record falling to 5-2 and put them into a three-way tie for second place. Western improves to 5-1 and also sits in second place along with Windsor. McMaster holds first place with a perfect 6-0 record.

Western won the opening marathon set taking it 37-35 and then claimed the second set 25-19. Queen's battled to win the third set 25-17, but lost the fourth set 25-19 to give Western the 3-1 win.

Zeeman tallied 19 kills and two digs in the loss while Michael Amoroso of Toronto notched 16 kills. Setter Dan Rosenbaum of Hamilton, Ont., had 43 assists while libero Alex Oneid of Ottawa led the Gaels with 12 digs.

Western's Eric Simon of London, Ont., was the game's top scorer producing 21 points including 16 kills. Matthew Gibson of Oshawa, Ont., had 39 assists.
