Dan Bannister was a perfect 4 for 4 from the field Friday night, finishing with 11 points
WATERLOO, Ont. (November 13, 2009) – Despite the superb shooting of
Dan Bannister of Newmarket, Ont., the Gaels lost yet another close game 66-62 to the Waterloo Warriors in Waterloo Friday evening.
Bannister shot 100% from the field, including three 3-pointers for a total of 11 points at the end of the night.
The Warriors came out strong against the Gaels in the first quarter, but Queen's gained momentum going into the second quarter, and was able to finish the half with a four point lead.
The Gaels' lead remained at the end of the third, but the Warriors were able to make a comeback in the fourth quarter to take a four point lead at the end of the game.
The Gaels outscored the Warriors from the field in the game, however Waterloo went to the line a total of 20 times, making 15, opposed to the Gaels who went 7 for 11.
Mitch Leger of Kingston, Ont., had another strong night, recording his third double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Baris Ondul of Istanbul, Turkey was the third Gaels player to put up double digits with 10 points and three assists.
The Gaels play next against the No. 10 Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks at 8:00 Saturday evening in Waterloo.
