TORONTO (November 1, 2009) – The Queen's Gaels (4-0) swept the York Lions (1-3) in a Ontario University Athletics (OUA) men's volleyball match Sunday afternoon at York University. The Gaels prevailed with set scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-17.
Joren Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont., had a team high 13 kills while second-year setter
Jackson Dakin of Courtenay, B.C., dished out 30 assists in the win.
Zeeman recorded 15 points in the game and tied with
Bryan Fautley of Oakville, Ont., for the game high.
Sam Pedlow of Barrie, Ont., had 11 points while
Alex Oneid of Ottawa led the Gaels with six digs.
York was led by Reid Hall of Georgetown, Ont., who tallied 13 kills, six digs and 14 points.
Queen's sits atop the OUA with a perfect 4-0 record tied with the McMaster Marauders with eight points. The Gaels will clash with the Marauders for first place at 8:00pm on Friday in Hamilton, Ont. Queen's and McMaster have owned the OUA over the past three seasons meeting in the championship final each year.
