KINGSTON, Ont. (October 31, 2009) - Rachel Harada of Waterloo, Ont., scored for the Western Mustangs in the 11th round of the shootout to claim a 4-3 victory over the Queen's Gaels at the Kingston Memorial Centre in OUA women's hockey action.

Kerstin Van Bolderen of Medina, Ohio, was stopped by Mustang goalie Jessica Ulrich of Keswick, Ont., in her attempt during the 11th round to give the Mustangs their third victory of the season (3-4-1). The loss hands Queen's (4-0-1) its first defeat of the 2009-10 season
Becky Conroy of Pembroke, Ont., had a goal and assist as well as a goal in the shootout to lead Queen's with two points in the loss. Twin sisters Brittany and
Morgan McHaffie of Cambridge, Ont., each recorded a goal in the game while
Kelsey Thomson of Martinsville, Ont. tallied two assists.
At the start of the second period, Western held a 1-0 lead before
Brittany McHaffie registered her second of the season on the power play to even the score 1-1. Minutes later Conroy would convert on the power play for her sixth of the year to take a 2-1 lead. Western's would respond with a goal by Ellen Seedhourse of Whitby, Ont., to tie the score 2-2 heading into the final frame.
In the third, both teams traded goals with Western's Katherine Dillon of Oshawa, Ont., scoring at 9:11 and
Morgan McHaffie scoring with just minutes remaining to send the game to overtime.
Ulrich recorded the win for Western making 23 saves on 26 shots while
Karissa Savage of Calgary took the loss making 17 saves on 20 shots. Queen's held the advantage on the power play going two-for-five while Western was one-for-three.
Queen's will face the Windsor Lancers on Sunday (Nov. 1) at the Kingston Memorial Centre with the puck dropping at 2:30pm. The game will be televised on Cogeco via tape delay on Monday evening at 8:30pm.
