Balanced attack gives Gaels victory over RMC

KINGSTON, Ont. (October 30, 2009) – The Queen's men's volleyball team earned their third straight victory as they knocked off the RMC Paladins in three sets on Friday night.

The first set saw the teams trade the lead throughout the duration of the set. RMC finally managed to earn a set point before the Gaels battled back to take the set 26-24.

Queen's began to take control of the second set early on as they built up the lead quickly and won it handily 25-15.

The final set saw RMC once again push the Gaels to the limit but they could not force a fourth set as they Queen's swept the match with a 27-25 set win.

Rookie Will Sidgwick of Toronto, Ont., was the Gaels top performer in the game, picking up a game-high nine kills. Anthony Pitfield of Ottawa, Ont., had seven kills and led the Gaels with 11 points.

Brett Walter of Lively, Ont., led the Gaels defensively with 10 digs.

Queen's will look to extend their winning streak to four games on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Toronto to battle the York Lions. Game time is set for 3:00 pm.
