Gaels dump Trent in OUA quarter-final
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 17, 2009) – The No. 10 Queen's Gaels earned their first OUA semi-final berth since 2003 claiming a 25-19 victory over the Trent Excalibur on Saturday in women's rugby.

Andrea Wadsworth of Toronto paced Queen's with eight points on one try and one penalty goal. Karlye Wong of Ottawa, Alison Burns of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. and Katie Chu of Toronto each added a try. Michell Gauer of Calgary added the other conversion in the game.

While Trent opened the scoring early, Queen's responded with a try by Chu just a minute later with Gauer making the conversion setting the score at 7-5. Queen's would never relinquish the lead and held a 12-5 advantage at the half.

Wadsworth extended Queen's lead to 17-5 early in the second half, but Trent would battle to a 20-19 score moving into injury time. Burns sealed the win in the final minutes of injury time, scoring a try to complete the scoring extending the Gaels season.

Next week, Queen's will meet the No. 3 ranked Guelph Gryphons in the OUA semi-final match hosted in Guelph, Ont. Game time is yet to be determined.

NOTES: Reversal of fortune – last season Trent upset the Gaels in the OUA quarterfinal match to end Queen's playoff run.
