KINGSTON, Ont. (October 17, 2009) - The nationally ranked No. 9 Queen's Gaels won their fourth straight regular season game 2-1 on Saturday against the Brock Badgers to remain perfect on the season.
Queen's scored once in each of the first two periods to build a big enough lead to resist a late Brock push. The Badgers pulled their goalie in the last moments of game in an effort to make up the difference. The risk paid off slightly, with the Badgers scoring with 19 seconds remaining, but could not find the equalizer before the time ran out. Sara Brady scored the late goal for Brock.
Queen's netminder
Karissa Savage (Calgary, Alta.) saved 29 shots and narrowly lost her shutout bid. The Gaels received multi-point performances from both
Elizabeth Kench (Gananoque, Ont.) and
Kristin Smith (Toronto), each having a goal and an assist. The Gaels pestered Brock's goalie with 34 shots, including 14 in the second period.
The Gaels (4-0) return to action on October 31st and November 1st with home games again Western and Windsor respectively. Both games are at 2:30pm at the Kingston Memorial Centre.
