Kingston, Ont. (January 31, 2009) –
Brady Morrison of Thamesville, Ont., made 52 stops while
Billy Burke of Aurora, Ont., netted two goals against the University of Toronto, in a 5-4 shootout thriller to keep Queen's men's hockey playoff hopes alive on Saturday.
Morrison two saves in the shootout set up a dramatic finish as
David Chubb of St. George's, Nfld., snipped the lone goal to knock off the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Mid-East leading Varsity Blues.
Heading into today's game, Toronto needed to secure a win against the Gaels to clinch the division title which automatically gives them a post-season berth. The Gaels meanwhile are fighting for their playoff lives sitting four points behind Ottawa for the final playoff position and seven back of Toronto for the division lead. Queen's has four games to play.
Burke duplicated yesterday's two goal performance notching goals in the first and second periods to help lead Queen's. Burke has now scored three of his seven goals against Toronto this season. Also scoring for the Gaels was

Queen's led the game 4-3 with one minute and 51 second remaining in the game, when Gaels forward
Brock Ouellet of Lindsay, Ont., was called for a tripping penalty. At 19:11 of the ensuing power play Joe Rand of Hamilton scored his second of the game for Toronto to force the overtime frame.
Morrison was sharp in the extra frame turning aside seven shots as the Gaels played one man down for the majority of overtime. Overall, Toronto was two for eight on the powerplay while Queen's was two for four.

The win extends Queen's winning streak to three games which is their longest winning streak since winning four games in November 2007. The Gaels also hold an overall 5-2 record in shootouts which currently leads nation. (4-1 in OUA league play).
Queen's travels for a makeup game against the Carleton Ravens on Tuesday starting at 7:00pm. The original game on January 28th was cancelled due to inclement weather.
