St. Catharines, Ont. (January 25, 2009) - Elizabeth Kench of Gananoque, Ont., scored 58 seconds into the game producing the only goal as the Queen's women's hockey team defeated the Brock Badgers 1-0 Sunday.

Kench notched her third goal of the season on the Gaels very first shot of the game to give Queen's the victory. Ontario University Athletics (OUA) leading scorer Becky Conroy of Pembroke, Ont., added to her point lead with an assist on the lone goal.

Karissa Savage of Calgary, recorded the shutout stopping all 25 shots for her first win of the 2008-09 season as Brock netminder Beth Clause of Hamilton, Ont. stopped 22 shots in the loss.

Queen's snapped a four game losing streak with the victory improving their record to 10-9-0-1 and move into a tie with Brock for fifth in the OUA with 21 points.

The Gaels have a week to rest, and travel to Guelph to play the second place Gryphons Sunday, February 1st at 2:30pm.
