Gaels too much for Paladins

Gaels defeat their cross-town rivals in three striaght sets

Kingston, Ont. (January 21, 2009) – Queen's men's volleyball team recorded their 12th win of the season defeating the Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins in three straight sets on Wednesday at the Bartlett Gymnasium.

Taking the victory with set scores 25-14, 25-13, 25-12 the Gaels saw second year Physical Education student Bryan Fautley of Oakville, Ont., led the team with 12 kills for a game high 12 points. Rookie setter Jackson Dakin of Courtenay, B.C., recorded 29 assist for the Gaels while Jeff DeMeza of Calgary hit five aces in victory.

RMC's top scorer was Philip Gulajski of Ottawa who produced eight of the Paladins 15 points knocking down eight kills.

The Gaels move into a tie for first place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) with the McMaster Marauders. Queen's travels to Toronto Friday to play the York Lions in their only match up of the weekend. Game time is scheduled for 8:00pm.
