Gaels split road trip to Toronto with victory Saturday over Ryerson
Toronto (January 17, 2009) – Four players recorded double digits, as the Queens Gaels defeated the Ryerson Rams 73-67 in Ontario University Athletics ( OUA) women's basketball on Saturday.

OUA leading scorer Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont. recorded a team high 18 points in the victory as the Gaels out scored the Rams by 10 points in the second half. Joining Moore in double digit points were Alaina Porter of Burlington, Ont. (16), Kendra Walker-Roche of Brockville, Ont., (11) and Jill Wheat of
Marwayne, Alta. (10).

Ryerson's Kaitlyn Taylor of Sydney, N.S had a game high 20 points hitting six three pointers.

Queen's produced 28 of its 45 rebounds on defence and that statistic contributed to holding the Rams to just 11 points in the third quarter. In turn the Gaels posted an explosive 21 points which was the difference.

The Gaels return to Kingston after splitting a Toronto road trip which included a loss to the Varsity Blues on Friday. Queen's (6-8) sit tied for fourth with Laurentian in the OUA East with 12 points.

Next weekend Queen's will host Ottawa and Carleton on Friday and Saturday respectively. Both games are scheduled for 6:00pm inside the Bartlett Gymnasium on campus. Tickets are available at 613.533.2500.
