Gaels fall short in Toronto

Gaels 4 game winning streak snapped by Toronto
Toronto, Ont. (January 16, 2009) - Queen's and the University of Toronto began the night tied for third in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East division, but at the end of the evening it was the Varsity Blues taking sole possession of third with a 68-58 victory over the Gaels.

Queen's led for the majority of the game taking a five point lead going into the final frame. Toronto rallied back outscoring the Gaels 28-13 in the fourth for the victory.

Baris Ondul of Istanbul, Turkey was the Gaels leading scorer hitting 19 points while Ryan Hairsine of St. Marys, Ont. hit 14 points in the loss. Gaels season leading scorer Mitch Leger of Kingston, Ont. played only three minutes before leaving with an injury.

Toronto was led by Nick Magalas of Burlington, Ont., who had a game high 23 points and brought down five rebounds. Rob Paris of St. Catharines, Ont., finished with 14 points for the Varsity Blues.

Queen's four game winning streak is snapped with the loss and will play the Ryerson Rams tomorrow.The Rams defeated the Royal Military College 102-51 tonight to move into a tie with Queen's for fourth in the OUA East. Game time is schedule for 8:00pm in Toronto.
