Kingston, Ont. (January 11, 2009) - The Queen's men's volleyball team extended their winning streak to seven games with a 3-0 victory over the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday in the Bartlett Gymnasium.
Defeating the Gryphons in straight sets 25-21, 25-21, 25-15 the Gaels move into sole possession of second place ahead of the Western Mustangs in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) league standings.
Niko Rukavina of Mississauga, Ont., led the way for Queen's recording 13 points on 10 kills and one block. Rukavina would also have five digs and two aces.
Jeff DeMeza of Calgary hit 11 kills to finish with 11 points. Setter
Daniel Rosenbaum of Hamilton, Ont., produced two kills and 37 assists.
Guelph's Jonathan Whitton of Edmonton, and James Stamler of North Bay, Ont. finished atop the Gryphons in scoring, both with eight points.
Queen's travels to Waterloo for two games next weekend. On Friday they will contentd against the Waterloo Warriors and then play the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to start at 8:00pm.
