Queen's Gaels win 2-0 in Women's Soccer

Kingston, Ontario (September 3, 2008) – The Queen's Women's soccer travelled up the road to play RMC in exhibition play this evening. The young squad of girls came out victorious beating RMC by a score of 2-0.

The Gaels started seven first year players tonight while having 10 first years play total.  Renee Maclellan of Kingston, Ont., showed her leadership by opening the scoring at the 32 minute mark of the game.  Jennifer Hutchinson of St. John Nfld., added the second goal shortly after at the 37 minute mark.

The Gaels kept the ball in the RMC end for most of the game and defiantly would have had added more names to the score sheet if it was not for RMC goaltender, Veronique Lussier of Russel, Ont.  The Gaels had numerous chances with a tone of crosses and corner kicks.

Coach Dave McDowell was please with the effort and is excited for the girl's season to start.

“It has been a quick start to the season for us, we had a lot of first year players tonight and we kept the pressure on all night against a very good team and a very good goaltender.”

The Gaels will open up the regular season Saturday September 6, 2008 against Trent University at Richardson Stadium. Game time is at 3:15pm.
