Gaels Shine in Stormy Weather

| By:
Sudbury, Ontario (September 14, 2008) – Kate McKenna of Oakville, Ont. recorded her second shutout of the season as she backstopped the women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the Laurentian Lady Vees on Sunday. McKenna stopped six shots and a key penalty kick in the 32nd minute to keep the Lady Vees scoreless.

Weather was a factor in this match-up as the remnants of the much weakened hurricane Ike moved through Ontario on Sunday.

Rookies Felicia Pereira of Simcoe, Ont. and Cristina Senese of Mississauga, Ont. were the offensive punch for the Gaels as Pereira opened the scoring. Senese tipped in a rebound for her first goal in OUA soccer.

Queen's returns from the a weekend road trip splitting both away games and now hold a 3-2 record in OUA league action. Next week Queen's takes on the Ottawa Gee-Gee's at Richardson Stadium in Kingston. Game time is scheduled for 2:15pm.
