Overtime stunner sends Gaels home with loss

| By:
Waterloo, Ontario (November 8, 2008) - Queen's trailed 1-0 entering the third period; however that changed quickly with Becky Conroy of Pembroke, Ont. scoring her seventh goal of the season 2:08 into the period.

This was the Gaels' only goal from 23 shots on the Warriors' netminder Erica Bridgewater of Georgetown, Ont., providing Waterloo the 2-1 overtime win.

Karissa Savage of Calgary, Alta., got the start in net for the Gaels' and held her own, saving all but one of the 40 shots she saw in regulation. She however could not keep out the second shot of the overtime period, with Waterloo's Julia Endicott scoring a minute and a half in.

Despite being outshot in every period, the Gaels' played disciplined hockey, accumulating only six penalty minutes, compared to the 16 for the Warriors.

The loss leaves the Gaels at 4-3-1 for the season, good for fifth spot in the OUA standings. The team heads across town to face the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
