Brittany Moore defends against Waterloo
Kingston, Ont. (November 7, 2008) – The Waterloo Warriors edged the Gaels 82-79 in overtime ruining the home opener for Queens.

With a fourth quarter come back the Gaels looked to have momentum after they tied up the game to force an overtime period. However that was not the case, Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont. looked to play hero but could not hit a last second shot to force a second overtime.

Moore started the game off well scoring 12 points in the first quarter but would struggle the rest of the way going 9 for 31. Moore would still end up leading the Gaels in scoring with 20 points.

Queen's had trouble all night shooting from a distance missing all of their three point attempts in the second half and going 23.5% for the game.

Defensively though the Gaels did play very well against a tough Warrior team, taking 25 defensive rebounds despite having both Post players Jill Wheat of Marwayne, Alta. and Anne Murphy of Milford, Ont. in early foul trouble.

Waterloo had strong play from their forward Erin Button of Stouffville, Ont. who led the team with 24 point. It was their point guard Kimberly Lee of Ajax, Ont. who would hit a three pointer just over a minute left in overtime to give the led and eventual win for the Warriors.

The Gaels have to put this defeat behind them as they will play again tomorrow night at home against Wilfrid Laurier who is coming off their first win of the season defeating the Royal Military College 72-52 Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
