Kingston, Ont. (November 22, 2008) – Queen's women's hockey record moved to 6-5-1 after the Guelph Gryphons dealt the Gaels a 5-0 loss on Saturday in Kingston.

The Gaels were outshot 41-17 with 19 of those shots coming in a second period barrage which saw Guelph score three unanswered goals; two on the power play.

Melissa John of Unionville, Ont. was in net for all five of the goals and made 24 saves on 29 shots. She was relieved by Karissa Savage of Calgary who stopped all 12 shots she faced in the final 19 minutes.

Guelph was led by Jessica Zerafa of Mississauga, Ont. who registered two goals each coming at the 35 second mark of the second and third periods. Zerafa now has nine goals on the season.

With the score sitting at 1-0 midway through the second period, Guelph would break open the game with back-to-back power play markers. Tori Woods of Orangeville, Ont. would score the first followed by Dayna Kanis of Georgetown, Ont. Guelph finished the game two for six on the power play.

Queen's (6-5-1) will tackle the Brock Badgers (7-3-2) on Sunday afternoon looking to make up ground on the Badgers who sit just three points ahead of the Gaels in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) standings. Earlier this year Queen's defeated Brock by the score of 2-1 in a pre-season matchup. Game time is scheduled for 2:30pm at the Kingston Memorial Centre.
