Kingston, Ont. (November 14, 2008) –
Jeff DeMeza of Calgary, Alta., put away 16 kills along with two digs, two stuff blocks and an ace for a 19 point night as they Gaels defeated York University in straight sets.
Queen's would dominate the first two sets winning both by the same tally of 25-20. Queen's would also get a strong performance out of setter Dan Rosenbaum of Hamilton, Ont. who had 27 assists and
Michael Amoroso of Toronto who had eight kills, four digs and two stuff blocks.
In the final set, York would not go quietly taking a late third set lead. With York sitting on set point at 24-22 Amoroso was subbed back into the game and came up with two decisive kills to tie the match at 24. The Gaels would take the momentum to record the victory 28-26.
With the victory the Gaels move to 5-2 on the season and will have full week rest before they host Wilfrid Laurier next Saturday, November 22 at 8:00pm.
