Hutchinson runs around RMC in 2-0 victory

Kingston, Ontario (October 9, 2008) - Jen Hutchinson of St. John's, Nfld. was a dominate force this afternoon as the Gaels defeated Royal Military College (RMC) 2-0 at Richardson Stadium.

Hutchinson who had a goal and an assist along with 3 shots in the game led the team to numerous break-ways and clear shots. Despite first half pressure by Hutchinson and ball control by Queen's they were unable to take the lead.

Hutchinson continued her great play in the second half slipping by the defenders with ease getting great chances to score. In the 63rd minute Hutchinson broke free and fed the ball across the goal crease to her team mates. RMC defender Jessica Hawn of Owen Sound, Ont. tried to intercept the pass but inadvertently deflected the ball into her own goal for the score. Hutchinson was awarded the goal.

Just 13 minutes later Hutchinson on another break fired a shot which RMC goaltender Erica Pesotto of Milton, Ont. stopped, the rebound went to Cristina Senese of Mississauga, Ont. who put it away to give the Gaels a 2-0 lead.

Katie McKenna of Oakville, Ont. was not challenged in this game as RMC was unable to get any offense rendering only one shot on target. McKenna's shutout is her fifth shutout of the season which puts her in a tie atop the CIS for shutouts this season.

The Gaels now have won two straight games improving their record to 7-4-0 and will travel to Ryerson Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for 3:15pm.
