Double Shutout for Gaels in Trent

Peterborough, Ont. ( October 5, 2008) - Both the men's and women's soccer teams went into Trent University with a goal of victory and they were not disapointed with a par of shutouts.

The men started the day off with a convincing 2-0 victory. Goaltender Tyler Lewis of Maple Ridge, Ont. took control in the second stopping all three of the Excalibur shots recording his second straight shuout.

The offensive touch came in the first half of play and that is all that was needed. Patrick Zanetti of Carp, Ont. and Michael Arnold of London, Ont.scored in the first to give the Gaels the lead.

The women's team took to the field next and were able to score and score often. The Gaels where shutout Saturday against Ottawa found the back of the net six times today as they went on to victory 6-0.

Queen's was a all- around team with goals coming from six different players. Rebecca Gibbons of Ottawa, Felicia Pereria of Simcoe, Ont., Sara Buckham of Burlington, Ont. Cathleen Brennan of Aurora, Ont., Cristina Senese of Mississuaga, Ont. and Taylore Shaw of Kanata Ont.

Elena Corry of Hamilton, Ont. and Chantal Marson of London, Ont. split the time in net for the Gaels to get the shutout.

With the victory the Gaels gain some much needed motavation and improve their record to 6-4-0 on the season and will be home Wednesday October 8th against RMC. Game time is set for 4:30pm at Richardson Stadium, while the men will travel to Toronto on Saturday October 10th for their next game. Kick off for that game is 6:00pm.
