Kingston, Ont. (October 25, 2008) -
Scott Kyle of Singapore lead the Gaels with three tries as Queen's advanced to the OUA Semi-Finals with a 70-3 victory over the University of Toronto.
Weather played a role in the game with torrential rain falling most of the day. At times there was three inches of standing water pooling into the end zones which made for tough playing conditions.
Eight different members of the squad scored tries in the victory including
Graeme Whyte of Whitby, Ont. and
Chris Barrett on Vancouver who both had two.
Toronto was held in check for the entire game and did not move the ball past the Queen's 30 yard line until the second half. Toronto has failed to record more than six points in a game against Queen's since 2004 when they scored 15 in a 17-15 loss.
Ryan Kruyne of Dunrobin, Ont. was solid again kicking four of the possible 11 converts.
Queen's will now host the semi final match next Saturday, November 1st as they will take on the Western Mustangs. When the two teams met in the regular season back in week three both teams battled to a 12-12 draw. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
