Conroy and Boyd carry Gaels in 4-3 victory

Gaels defeat York 4-3
Toronto, Ont. (October 19, 2008) - Becky Conroy of Pembroke, Ont. provided  the offence while Katie Boyd of Richmond Hill, Ont. provided the defence in  a 4-3 victory as the Queen's Gaels defeated the York Lions on Sunday  afternoon.

Conroy registered all four of Queen's goals, while Boyd was spectacular in  net turning away 48 shots to give the Gaels the win. Queen's earned the  victory despite being outshot 51-37.

York took the lead in the first after Jennifer Petkovics of Mississauga, Ont. scored at the 12:30 mark. Conroy would score her first of the game just 1:30 into the second period. York responded  eight seconds later as Mandy Cole of North York, Ont. scored her second of the season.

Conroy would take control scoring the next three gols including an empty net goal to collect Queen's second straight victory.

Queen's is now 2-1 and will open play their home opener next Saturday on October 25 at the Kingston Memorial Centre. The Gaels will face off against the defending OUA Champion Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks with the puck dropping at 2:30pm.
