Ball makes 25 saves in CIS debut

St. Catharines, Ont. (October 18, 2008) – Mackenzie Ball of Corbyville, Ont. made 25 saves during his CIS debut, but his effort wasn't enough as the Queen's Gaels lost 2-1 in overtime to the Brock Badgers.

Derek Brochu of Welland, Ont. netted the winner just 55-seconds into the overtime frame to give the Badgers the victory improving their record to 2-1 while sinking the Gaels to a 2-3 mark early in the 2008-09 campaign.

London's Blake Pronk opened the scorings in the first period on a power play goal beating Brock's Kurt Jory of Brandon, Man. Scott Kenway of Calgary and David Chubb of St. George's Nfld., assisted on the goal. Approximately two minutes later at 15:29, Brock evened the score when Tyler Leggo of Burgessville, Ont. accepted a pass from Joey Pell of Dryden, Ont. to tie the game.

Ball, joined the Gaels from the OJHL's Kingston Voyageurs and was named the backup to Gaels starter Brady Morrison of Thamesville, Ont. Prior to this game, Morrison had played in the previous four games the Gaels took part.
