Toronto (October 11, 2008) – The Ryerson Rams edged the Queen's Gaels 2-1 on Saturday in Toronto as the Rams pulled even with the Gaels for fourth place in the OUA East standings.
Graeme Webber of Vancouver, B.C., scored the first goal of the game to give the Gaels the early lead. Webber was playing in his first game after sitting out the past several weeks due to a concussion.
After a Ryerson goal in the 37th minute to tie the game, it turned into a defensive match with both teams battling for possession and the lead. Ryerson was able to take the lead in the 82nd minute with a goal by Vince D'Elia of Vaughn, Ont.
With just two games remaining, both Queen's and Ryerson are tied with a 4-6-2 record with 14 points each. They will battle one more time on Saturday, October 18 when they meet at Richardson Stadium in Kingston.
Trent is in sixth place with 13 points and Nipissing is in seventh place with 10 points. They have three games to play and still have an outside chance to move into one of the six playoff positions.
