Alexandre Dumond, a kinesiology student at Queen’s University was part of the biathlon contingent representing Canada at the international university competition. The biathlon races were held February 21-28 at Maoershanin Ski Resort in Harbin, China. Dumond competed in the men’s individual 20 kilometre race finishing in a time of one hour, six minutes and 25.4 seconds. He was just nine minutes and 32 seconds behind the leader and was the fourth highest Canadian in the field. He then competed in the men’s 12.5 kilometre sprint and pursuit race finishing in the top 35, and then completed the event in the men’s mass start on the final day of competition also finishing in the top 30.
