Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.) of the women’s soccer team is the Queen’s University Female Athlete of the Week. The first-year goalkeeper backstopped the Gaels to the silver medal at the 2012 CIS Women’s Soccer Championship in Victoria, B.C. Tyrell picked up a pair of shutouts, on Friday and Sunday, and stopped 21 of 22 shots that she faced over the three games. She made seven saves in Friday’s win over the top-seeded Ottawa Gee-Gees, and followed that up with a ten-save performance in Sunday’s Championship game – including a pair of game-savers at the end of extra time.
