Matthews was the 2010-11 recipient of the PHE '55 Alumnae Award, awarded to the top fourth or fifth year female Varisty Team athlete. Matthews is a three-time OUA All-Star at middle and is also a two-time Academic All-Canadian. In her third season with the women's volleyball team, she guided the Gaels to their first appearance at the OUA Final Four in six years and this season, had one of her best statistical campaigns, leading the country in solo blocks.
