Francois Beaucage-Gauvreau of Montreal, won two gold medals at the 2011 OUA Men’s Fencing Championship to help lead the Gaels to their fourth provincial title in team history. The second year mechanical engineering major won gold in the individual and team sabre events, earning two of the four gold medals that Queen’s won at the championship. Beaucage-Gauvreau was also named the winner of the George Tully Trophy, which goes to the fencer most proficient in skill, style and sportsmanship. It is the second year in a row that a member of the Queen’s men’s fencing team has earned the honour after Scott Bowman of Milton, Ont., was named the winner at last year’s championship.
