Matt Hulse of Hartington, Ont., had a standout performance at this past weekend’s CIS track and field championships held in Windsor. The fourth year physical and health education major medal won the men’s 1000m race and followed that up with a silver medal in the 1500m race. In the 1000m event, Hulse edged out Matt Walters from the University of Windsor by 26/100ths of a second to capture the gold medal in a time of 2 minutes, 25.08 seconds. In the 1500m race, Hulse finished just a second and a half behind Guelph’s Kyle Boorsma to earn the silver. The 18 team points that Hulse earned in the two events led the Gaels to a 10th place finish in the overall team standings.
